2024 Maruti Swift LXI: Is The Cheapest Variant Good Enough For You? [Video]

The all new 2024 Maruti Swift is offered in a total of five variants. The range starts from the base LXi variant which is priced at Rs. 6.49 lakhs ex-showroom. Today, we will understand what the base model of the 2024 Swift offers and what additional features have been added in the base trim as compared to the base trim of the previous generation Swift.

The car is shown in a YouTube video uploaded by Her Garage. The YouTuber has titled this video as “Sorry Tata Punch” and refers to the 2024 Swift as her new love. Now, let’s delve into the details of the car.

The car shown in the video is the LXi trim finished in Pearl Artic White color. The video starts with the front look of the car. This time around Maruti has offered projector headlights even in the base variant. However, these projectors come with a Halogen bulb. The DRLs are not offered in this variant. Instead, a chrome strip is added in the headlights.

Adding to the overall premium-ness of the car is a glossy black honeycomb grille. As expected with a base variant car, fog lamps are not offered. In contrast, the previous generation Swift offered halogen reflector based headlights and a matte black grille.

The car rides on 14-inch steel rims which may be disappointing for some. Maruti is still offering indicators which are mounted on the fender. The higher variants of the Swift are offered with turn signals integrated into the ORVMs. The door handles and the ORVMs are not body colored which is a major letdown. The ORVMs in this trim are neither electrically adjustable nor electrically foldable. The adjustment has to be done manually by touching and adjusting the glass which can be annoying at times.

Maruti has offered LED taillights in the new Swift. Key features of the rear profile include four reverse parking sensors and a rear defogger. Maruti offered reverse parking sensors in the base trim of previous Swifts as well but the defogger is a new addition. A boot release button has been added on the tail gate itself which was not offered earlier.

Now, let’s talk about the cabin of the car. This time around Maruti has offered central locking along with remote lock/unlock as standard. This feature was not available in the LXi trim of the last generation Swift. Additionally, Maruti has offered all four power windows with auto up/down for driver’s side window.

The doors come with soft touch fabric material. The steering wheel is similar to the last generation of Swift and it does not come with any controls or leather wrapping. The instrument cluster is updated as well. The LXi trim of last generation Swift did not offer a tachometer which has been added. Features such as infotainment system, steering mounted control and cruise control are missing.

Maruti has offered manual AC in the 2024 Swift but it comes with a digital display. Safety has seen a major upgrade in the new Swift which now offers six airbags as standard. The engine has also been changed. The 2024 Swift is powered by a 1.2-litre three cylinder engine which produces 80 PS and 111 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and an AMT.
