Ipswich Town sign Burnley defender Dara O'Shea in £15m deal

Ipswich Town have completed the signing of Burnley defender Dara O’Shea in a deal worth around £15million ($19.8m).

The 25-year-old had attracted interest from Brentford, Wolves and Celtic but has instead moved to Portman Road.

The Republic of Ireland international becomes Ipswich’s eleventh signing of the summer transfer window.

After progressing through West Bromwich Albion’s academy and going on to make 107 appearances for the club, O’Shea joined Burnley in the summer of 2023.

He was a regular for Vincent Kompany in their Premier League campaign, making 33 appearances as Burnley were relegated. He has featured in two of Burnley’s Championship games this season but missed their 1-0 defeat to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.

The defender has also earned 26 international caps after making his senior Republic of Ireland debut in October 2020.

He follows winger Jack Clarke in making the move from the Championship to Ipswich after the 23-year-old completed his £15million ($19.8m) transfer on Saturday.

O’Shea’s transfer sees Ipswich’s spending this summer reach almost £100m ($132m).
