Arsenal, Liverpool, and Brighton and Hove Albion are all set to be boosted by the returns of Takehiro Tomiyasu, Wataru Endo, and Kaoru Mitoma after Japan’s exit from the Asian Cup.
Japan lost 2-1 to Iran in the quarter-finals in Qatar on Saturday with former Brighton winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh knocking them out with a 96th-minute penalty.
Tomiyasu, 25, last appeared for Arsenal during their 2-1 defeat to Fulham on December 31, while Endo, 30, last played for Liverpool in their 4-2 win over Newcastle United on January 1.
Mitoma, 26, has not played for Brighton since sustaining an ankle injury during the 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on December 21.
Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min, Brentford’s Kim Ji-soo, and Wolverhampton Wanderers’s Hwang Hee-chan are all still away at the Asian Cup with the South Korea national team who are set to take on Jordan in the semi-final on February 6.
Iran will take on the winner of Qatar and Uzbekistan in the other semi-final on February 7. The Asian Cup concludes on February 10 after the final at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar.
