Mikel Arteta said his New Year’s resolution was to keep everyone in his squad fit. But, in a similar vein to your overweight uncle who promised to go to the gym five time a week in 2025, it is a resolution he has been unable to keep.
Ethan Nwaneri, Arsenal’s goalscorer in Saturday’s draw against Brighton, has sustained an injury that will keep him out for a few weeks, according to his manager.
He joins Bukayo Saka (hamstring), Raheem Sterling, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White (all knee) in the physio room.
Arteta will, however, have Jurrien Timber back and available after he was suspended for the trip to the south coast and Kai Havertz should also be back in the squad after illness.
