Thomas Frank has admitted Brentford could sell Bryan Mbeumo this summer.
The 25-year-old Cameroon international has scored 18 Premier League goals this season and provided six assists, becoming one of the division’s most prolific forwards.
“If the right price — and that’s going to be expensive — is coming, then I’m sure the club will be open to it,” Frank told an interview with Sky Sports.
The Brentford head coach added that Mbeumo was “very happy” at the club and he was “convinced” the forward would not push for a transfer, but added that he could not rule out his exit.
“I’ve said many times: we are a selling club. But at the same time we have to reinforce that there are 10 clubs in the world who aren’t selling clubs.”
Mbeumo and strike partner Yoane Wissa (16 league goals) are fifth and sixth in the Premier League top-scorer charts this season, with the two forwards accounting for 34 of Brentford’s 56 goals in the division.
Frank, who added he “expects more or less the same squad for next season”, said Brentford would be strongly placed to replace any lost talent this summer.
“I lost Neal Maupay, Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney as three key strikers that were 25 goals plus. Every season we replace the goals with other players so I am confident that we can do it again.”
