Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb was carted off the field with a knee injury in the second quarter against the Pittsburgh Steelers on “Monday Night Football” and ruled out.

Chubb took a violent shot from Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick at the end of a first-and-goal run. Steelers players immediately signaled to the sideline for the trainers to attend to Chubb, who had 64 yards on 10 carries before exiting.

The Athletic’s instant analysis:

What this means for Cleveland

Chubb has arguably been the league’s best running back for the last several seasons. Jerome Ford now becomes the Browns’ lead running back; on the first play after the injury timeout, Ford caught a 3-yard touchdown pass from Deshaun Watson.

Chubb tore multiple ligaments in his left knee — but not his ACL — in 2015, when he was a sophomore at Georgia. — Jackson
