The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), part of the UK Ministry of Defence, has revealed plans to deliver a £94m package of enabling works at the Northwood Headquarters site in north-west London.
The project will include the construction of a multi-storey car park and other site development works.
It is scheduled to begin on 8 April 2026 and run until 8 September 2028, according to a pipeline notice published on 9 May.
The contract, which is valued at £94m excluding VAT, or £112.8m including VAT, will be procured as a services contract.
DIO is expected to publish the tender on 6 October.
The scope of work is classified under consultative engineering and construction services (CPV 71310000) as well as general construction work (CPV 45000000). Full procurement will be carried out under provisions in the Procurement Act 2023.
Northwood serves as a key military command base, hosting five operational HQs. These are Strategic Command HQ, Standing Joint Force HQ, Permanent Joint Headquarters, the Commander Allied Maritime Command (part of NATO) and the Royal Navy’s Maritime Operations Centre.
