Fulham submit improved offer for Crystal Palace's Joachim Andersen

Fulham have submitted an improved offer to sign defender Joachim Andersen from Crystal Palace.

After a first bid of £20million, Fulham have raised their proposal to £25m plus £5m in add-ons.

That new offer gets them closer to what Palace are seeking — more towards £40m — if they are to consider selling the 28-year-old Denmark centre-back.

The Athletic previously reported that Fulham had made an opening offer for Andersen, with the west London club looking to strengthen their centre-back options this summer following the departure of Tosin Adarabioyo to Chelsea.

Fulham also saw an opening bid for Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos rejected this month.

Tim Ream has left for Charlotte FC, while central defender Jorge Cuenca joined from Villarreal in a €6.3m deal.

Andersen had a loan spell at Fulham during the 2020-21 season, making 31 appearances in all competitions as the club were relegated from the Premier League.

He joined Palace the following summer from Lyon for a fee in the region of €22m and has made 112 appearances in all competitions during his three years at the south London club, scoring three goals.

Andersen started all 38 of Palace’s Premier League fixtures last season and his contract runs until 2026.

Fellow Palace centre-back Marc Guehi has also been the subject of interest this summer, with Newcastle United submitting a third offer for the England international this week.
