Kia eV3 Electric SUV With 600 Kms Range Officially Revealed


The South Korean automotive giant Kia has finally debuted its entry-level electric SUV, the Kia EV3. The model has been unveiled globally, and most likely it could be making its way to the Indian market in the coming months. The new EV3 takes its exterior design inspiration from the flagship Kia EV9 electric SUV. Also, like the other electric cars from the brand, it is based on the E-GMP Platform, which is utilized by Hyundai as well.

Exterior

First off, let’s talk about the exterior design of the Kia EV9. With this brand-new model, the company has given it a design that ties it with the other electric vehicles from the brand. It takes its overall design inspiration from the Kia EV9, which is the flagship electric SUV offered by the company. As mentioned, it is based on the E-GMP Platform utilized by both Kia and Hyundai.

Dimensionally, the Kia EV3 measures 4300mm in length, 1850mm in height, and 1560mm in width. As for the wheelbase, it measures 2680mm. This means that if launched, it will be competing with the Maruti eVX, Hyundai Creta EV, and Harrier facelift in India.

Front

Coming to its design details, the front of the Kia EV9 looks very sleek, yet bold and beautiful. It gets a very clean-looking front fascia with a closed-off grille, which is a signature EV design element. Also, it gets lovely-looking vertically positioned LED headlights, which get L-shaped LED DRLs.

Moving on to the lower front bumper, it gets a huge air dam in the middle. Just above it, there is a sleek-looking silver garnish that enhances the overall appearance of the Kia EV3.

As for the side profile, the Kia EV9 gets a futuristic appearance. The main highlights are the uniquely designed 18-inch alloy wheels. These alloy wheels boast an 8-spoke geometric pattern, which adds to the distinctness of this electric SUV. Apart from these, the side profile also gets squared-off wheel arches with thick black claddings.

The front doors get flush-type door handles. Meanwhile, the rear door handles have been hidden on the rear portion of the doors. There is also a small black element that gives it a floating roof appearance. Also, the window line is pretty tall and straight.

At the rear, it continues the minimalistic design theme. It gets very uniquely shaped LED taillights, which appear to be connected but do not fully connect in the middle. On the center of the rear tailgate is the new brushed silver Kia logo. Also, on the lower section, there is a silver element like the front; however, this is slightly bigger.

Interior and Features

Coming to the interior side of things, the Kia EV3 has a very minimalistic and functional design. The dashboard is not cluttered with physical buttons. The main highlight is the two connected 12.3-inch displays. The one in the middle is for the infotainment, while the other is a digital instrument gauge cluster.

It also gets a simple-looking two-spoke steering wheel with all the controls for both screens. Just underneath the screen are the sleek air conditioning vents, which almost look invisible. As for the most unique part of this interior, it is its floating center console.

As for the powertrain side of things, the Kia EV3 gets an electric motor mounted on the front axle. This motor generates a maximum power of 201 bhp and 283 Nm of torque. In terms of performance, this FWD EV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.5 seconds. Its top speed is 170 kmph.

Coming to the range offered by this EV, it comes with two battery pack options. The first is a 58.3kWh, and the other is an 81.4kWh battery pack. It offers a maximum driving range of 600 km (WLTP-cycle). As for the charging speed, it can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 31 minutes.
