Leicester City sign Bobby De Cordova-Reid on free transfer

Leicester City have completed the signing of Bobby De Cordova-Reid on a free transfer.

De Cordova-Reid, 31, was a free agent after his contract with Fulham expired at the end of last month.

“Turning up here was a special moment, looking around and seeing the infrastructure,” De Cordova-Reid said after signing a three-year deal with the newly-promoted side. “It’s got that wow factor. It feels nice. I’m delighted to be here and I can’t wait to get going.

“I had a good chat with the manager, he told me the vision of the club. I spoke to him a few times and he was very clear in what he wanted and what he saw in me. He believes in me and it’s a perfect fit for me.”

De Cordova-Reid was a part of the leadership group at Fulham dressing room and the versatile wide midfielder had been offered a two-year contract to stay at Craven Cottage.

The Jamaica international joined Fulham, initially on loan, in 2019 and went on to make more than 200 appearances for the club. He featured 41 times for Fulham last term, scoring seven goals.

Leicester won the Championship title last season to return to the top flight at the first attempt.

They are in the market for further attacking additions having lost Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Dennis Praet and are considering a move for Callum O’Hare, who left Coventry City last month.

De Cordova-Reid is Leicester’s first signing under new manager Steve Cooper, who replaced Enzo Maresca last month.
