Manchester United's Rasmus Hojlund and Mason Mount return to training after injuries

Rasmus Hojlund and Mason Mount have both returned to Manchester United first-team training after recovering from injuries.

Hojlund, 21, has not featured for United this season after sustaining a hamstring injury in the pre-season match against Arsenal in July, while 25-year-old Mount returns after sustaining a hamstring injury in last month’s defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Mount had started the opening two Premier League matches of the campaign for Erik ten Hag’s side against Fulham and Brighton, but was withdrawn at the break against the latter due to the injury — missing the matches against Liverpool, Southampton and Barnsley.

Denmark international striker Hojlund scored 16 goals in 43 matches for United in the 2023-24 season having joined the club from Atalanta.

Mount joined United in an initial £55million move from Chelsea in July 2023 but only made 20 appearances last season due to a string of injuries.

He was left out of England’s squad for Euro 2024 by then-manager Gareth Southgate but had worked hard on his physical condition over the summer in an effort to make a positive start to the new campaign.

Defenders Leny Yoro, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia remain sidelined through injuries for United.

United are next in action against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on September 21, before beginning their Europa League campaign at home to Dutch side FC Twente four days later.
