Raiders' Maxx Crosby expected to return vs. Broncos after missing first-ever NFL game in Week 4: Source

Las Vegas Raiders edge Maxx Crosby is expected to return for the team’s Week 5 matchup against against the Denver Broncos, a league source said Saturday.

Crosby missed the team’s Week 4 game against Cleveland Browns with a high ankle sprain. It was his first missed game since entering the NFL in 2019. Journeyman Charles Snowden saved the day, in Crosby’s place, with a pass deflection and sack in the last three plays to hold on to 20-16 win over the Browns.

He played Week 3 against the Carolina Panthers with the high ankle sprain and was ineffective, saying last week he was frustrated with his performance.

“I play one way and when you’re not able to do certain things, it’s tough,” Crosby said. “But I did everything … to try to produce and I feel like I did some things, some good things, but it’s tough. I have a damn Timberland boot-size wrapping on my leg … and it’s tough.”

The three-time Pro Bowler practiced Friday and was in good spirits. Crosby is the unquestioned leader of the team and will give the Raiders a nice anchor with the trade demand and pending departure of star receiver Davante Adams.

Crosby has three sacks on the year after putting up 14.5 last year and is a big reason why the Las Vegas has beaten the Broncos eight straight times. The 27-year-old captain also has 14 combined tackles through his first three games this season.

The Raiders enter their matchup against the Broncos at 2-2.
