A fair guess at how the Cleveland Browns will try to make things work with Dorian Thompson-Robinson at quarterback Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers includes leaning on the running game, giving the rookie some safe, simple throws early, and relying on their most experienced offensive players to perform at the level they’ve played at much of the season.

There’s a shorter answer, too.

Just make it absolutely nothing like the last time.

Thompson-Robinson is both smart and humble enough to acknowledge that part of it. Now that he’s back in the starting role — and looking to keep the job for the rest of the season — Thompson-Robinson said he believes nothing about his game or mindset is like it was when he last started in Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens.

“You kind of knock all the rust and the stuff off after your first go-around,” Thompson-Robinson said. “I think I said this a couple of weeks ago, it’s going to be night and day (the next time). It’s going to be night and day. Just my progression, the maturity, how I’ve handled the week this far, and all the weeks before. Just being able to learn from that first experience.”
