TechFest 2024 shortlist revealed


Construction industry innovators and experts have had their successes recognised in the shortlist for TechFest 2024.

In total, 133 finalists were shortlisted across 20 categories, highlighting achievements in the construction and civil engineering industries that make the most of technological innovations.

TechFest Conference and Awards is a joint effort between Construction News and New Civil Engineer, as a forum to share and uncover ideas across the industry.

Mott MacDonald was nominated in eight categories, including Digital Rising Star, where it leads the pack with four nominations. The engineering consultancy was also nominated four times in the Best Use of Technology: Design Efficiency category.

Tier one contractor Balfour Beatty was nominated in the Best Use of Technology: Digital Construction category, as well as for Digital Construction Project of the Year.

Laing O’Rourke is a finalist in five categories, including the Best Use of Technology: Health, Safety & Wellbeing category, as well as for Best Use of Technology: Site Productivity.

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure made the cut in the Best Use of Technology: Smart Data Collection for Asset Management category, and for Carbon Reduction in Construction and Management.

The three firms up for Digital Contractor of the Year are Balfour Beatty, John Graham Construction and Mott MacDonald Bentley.

The awards ceremony, sponsored by Converge, Polypipe and Safetytech Accelerator, is set to take place on 27 November at Hilton Metropole London.
