Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Kit Graham is expected to miss the 2024-25 season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
The 28-year-old sustained the injury to her left knee during Tottenham’s pre-season programme.
She will undergo surgery before beginning her rehabilitation with the Spurs medical staff.
Recovery from an ACL injury and returning to action can typically take between six months to over a year, and Spurs say they expect Graham to miss the entirety of the upcoming season.
It is the second time during her professional career Graham has sustained such an injury, after she missed over 15 months of action after suffering an ACL injury in November 2021.
She featured 18 times in the Women’s Super League last season as Spurs finished sixth. She also made five appearances in the Women’s FA Cup as Spurs reached the final for the first time, where they were beaten by Manchester United.
Graham joined Spurs from Charlton Athletic in 2019 ahead of the club’s first season in the WSL.
In September 2021 she became the first Spurs Women’s player to score at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a 1-0 win against Birmingham City.
She signed a new contract with Spurs in February which runs until the summer of 2025.
Spurs begin the 2024-25 WSL season at home to newly-promoted Crystal Palace on September 22.
