In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng skidded 187.49 points, or 0.8%, to 23,453.16.

In Korea, the Kospi index shed 19.21 points, or 0.7%, to 2,621.36
In Taiwan, the Taiex Index stuttered 52.62 points, or 0.2%, to 21,730.25
In Singapore, the Straits Times index recovered 20.89 points, or 0.5%, to 3,891.94
In New Zealand, the NZX 50 rocketed 101.56 points, or 0.8%, to 12,880.82.
In Australia, the ASX 200 gained 17.89 points, or 0.2%, to 8,287.48
