CN100-ranking contractor RG Carter is among seven firms selected for a £96.3m construction and refurbishment framework from the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich.
The UEA Contractor Framework has a baseline lifespan of three years, with the university having the option of extending it by two years.
Work will be performed primarily on the UEA campus and the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) main site.
The framework also covers other NNUH properties in Norfolk.
In a contract notice yesterday (13 June), the UEA said it established the framework “so that it has a pool of contractors from whom it can call-off directly or seek tenders (via mini-competitions) for specific projects as they arise”.
The framework is divided into three lots.
RG Carter is joined by fellow East Anglian firms MJS Projects (March) and Cocksedge Building Contractors on lot one, for jobs worth £1m-£5m.
MJS Projects, NCL Contractors and Pentaco Construction have been appointed to lot two, for minor works valued at less than £1m.
Lot three is for mechanical and electrical jobs worth less than £900,000. It includes two other Norwich firms, Empower Services and Eastern Power Systems.
Norwich-based RG Carter was ranked 64th in the CN100 2023 table of the UK’s largest contractors.
The firm is no stranger to university work, having won a place last year on the University of Cambridge’s £680m estate framework.
In its latest annual accounts, released last week, it reported a 23 per cent fall in turnover to £248.5m.
But profit in the 2023 calendar year rose by 80 per cent to £12.8m.
