USMNT captain Christian Pulisic to miss AC Milan clash with Juventus due to muscle fatigue

USMNT captain Christian Pulisic will miss AC Milan’s Serie A clash with Juventus on Saturday due to an injury, his manager Sergio Conceicao confirmed.

The Athletic previously reported that Pulisic, 26, had avoided injury after being substituted off with muscle fatigue during their Serie A match at Como on Tuesday.

The forward appeared to sustain an injury to his left calf area, but scans on Wednesday ruled out a muscle tear, and his manager has now confirmed that he will miss Saturday’s trip to the Allianz Stadium as a result.

“Pulisic is out,” Conceicao said. “I don’t feel like bluffing. He still feels some discomfort, and we don’t want to risk it.

“It’s nothing serious, but if he plays for about 20 minutes, he risks making the situation worse and I don’t want that.”

Pulisic is having a productive season for Milan, with his 10 goals and seven assists from 23 appearances both team highs.

The forward sustained an injury to his right calf in early December that kept him out for around a month and caused him to miss five games for his club.

Pulisic returned on January 3 and helped his side win 2-1 against Juventus in the Italian Super Cup semi-final, scoring a penalty. He also started and scored in Milan’s 3-2 Italian Super Cup victory over rivals Inter on January 6.

AC Milan are seventh in Serie A, five points off a top four spot and three points behind their opponents on Saturday, Juventus.
