Volkswagen Taigun 1.0 GT Line And 1.5 GT Sport Plus SUVs Launched


Last month, the German automaker Volkswagen unveiled two new Taigun models. The first was the Taigun GT Sport Plus, and the other was the Taigun GT Line. Now, a few weeks later, the company has announced the pricing for these SUVs. The Taigun GT Sport Plus and GT Line start at Rs 14.08 lakh. Both of these new models feature unique and sportier-looking blacked-out exterior and interior design elements.

First off, the main thing is their prices. The new Taigun GT Line variant has been priced at Rs 14.08 lakh. This pricing is for the manual transmission variant. Meanwhile, the automatic transmission variant has been launched at Rs 15.63 lakh.

Next up, the Taigun GT Sport Plus has been priced at Rs 18.54 lakh for the manual transmission variant, and the automatic transmission variant has been priced at Rs 19.74 lakh. Both of these variants are slightly more expensive than their standard counterparts.

For those who may be confused with these newly launched models, here’s a proper explanation. The company has launched the Taigun GT Sport Plus, which is the sportier-looking version of the already sporty Taigun GT. This particular model will come equipped with a number of aesthetic upgrades.

The list of exterior changes includes carbon steel-colored roof, black-colored roof rails, glossy black B-pillar, glossy black C-pillar garnish, and black-colored ORVMs.

It will also get black-colored window bar, DLO (Daylight Opening), dark chrome outside door handle garnish, GT Logo in red color, black LED headlamps, 17” Cassino black alloy wheels, and red front brake calipers. It will also get a few more minor exterior aesthetic upgrades.

Moving on to the interior, the new Taigun GT Sport Plus will come with a black-colored headliner, red ambient lighting, aluminum pedal, red stitching, black leatherette seat covers, and glossy black dashboard décor + edgy opulence inserts.

The Taigun GT Sport Plus will see no mechanical changes and will get the same 1.5-liter TSI EVO engine. Transmission options will include a 7-speed DSG & 6-speed manual transmission.

In addition to the Taigun GT Sport Plus model, the company has also launched the new Taigun GT Line variant to the lineup. This new model will cater to those buyers who want the sporty design aesthetics and badges of a GT model but do not want the more powerful 1.5-liter turbocharged engine.

This model on the outside will feature the same sporty exterior elements and GT badges. But it will come powered by the smaller 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine. This motor generates a maximum power of 113 bhp and 178 Nm. It will come mated with options between a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The company has stated that the standard Taigun models will come under the “Chrome” lineup. Additionally, the company also offers the Taigun in a GT Edge lineup as well. Lastly, there are a few more editions namely – the Taigun Sound Edition and GT Edge Trail Edition.
