West Ham keen on PSG's Carlos Soler but move depends on sales

West Ham United are keen on signing Paris Saint-Germain Carlos Soler but any move for the midfielder depends on player sales at the Premier League side.

Talks are ongoing over a season-long loan with an obligation to buy and a long-term permanent contract as West Ham work on sales after a busy summer.

Max Kilman, Jean-Clair Todibo, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Crysencio Summerville and Niclas Fullkrug have all joined with Guido Rodriguez, another midfielder, also arriving.

Rodriguez started West Ham’s opening-day defeat by Aston Villa alongside Tomas Soucek and Lucas Paqueta in midfield, with James Ward-Prowse coming on for the Brazilian in the second half. Edson Alvarez was absent from the squad after sustaining an injury with Mexico at the Copa America earlier this summer.

Soler’s prospects of regular football at PSG have diminished following the arrival of Joao Neves from Benfica.

The 27-year-old began his career at hometown club Valencia, with whom he made 226 first-team appearances and scored 36 goals, helping them win the Copa del Rey in 2019.

Soler joined PSG in the summer of 2022 and despite making 63 appearances across two seasons, he started just 26 Ligue 1 matches.

Soler — who has scored four goals across 14 caps for Spain — won four trophies at the Parisian club including the league title in each of his two seasons.
