West Ham United head coach Julen Lopetegui says Niclas Fullkrug will be assessed on Friday before making a final decision on his availability for Saturday’s Premier League match against Fulham.
Fullkrug, 31, is dealing with an Achilles tendon issue that ruled him out of Germany’s 2-2 draw with the Netherlands earlier this week.
Speaking at his press conference on Thursday morning, Lopetegui said: “He has a little problem, which is a pity, but we are evaluating him.
“Tomorrow (Friday) we’ll make the final decision about him.”
Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann, who rested Fullkrug for the Nations League game on Tuesday as a precaution, suggested the former Borussia Dortmund forward would not be fit to play for West Ham at the weekend.
Nagelsmann said: “If something were to happen, it would be long-term. That’s why we’re not taking any risks.
“He will have to take a few days off. He will not be playing in the Premier League (on Saturday).”
Fullkrug has made three Premier League appearances, all as a substitute, since joining West Ham from Dortmund this summer.
The Germany international scored 15 goals across 43 games for Dortmund last season, helping the club reach the Champions League final with goals in the quarter-final and semi-final stages.
