The NFL conference championship games are set.
On the latest episode of “The Athletic Football Show,” host Robert Mays and co-host Derrik Klassen discussed a weekend with shocking upsets, historic playoff performances, and a nail-biting clash between the MVP front-runners.
For Mays, the Ravens’ agonizing defeat raised major questions about next season.
“Are you going to have a historically good offense again? Are you going to get this season from Lamar?” he asked. “Are you going to lose Todd Monken? Those are some of the bigger questions the Ravens will be asking themselves. It’s a frustrating place to be if you’re a team like Baltimore that thought this was their chance.”
The Washington Commanders, led by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, booked their first NFC Championship ticket since 1992 by taking down the top-seeded Detroit Lions on the road.
Daniels became the second rookie quarterback in NFL history after Joe Flacco in 2009 to beat the No. 1 seed in the playoffs.
“Jayden Daniels is in the conversation for the best rookie quarterback I have seen,” Mays said.
