Fulham are re-signing veteran Brazilian winger Willian on a deal until the end of the season.
Willian’s short-term contract could see him earn around £100,000 per week including bonuses and his move is expected to be announced on Tuesday.
The Athletic reported earlier on deadline day (Monday, February 3) that Fulham were in talks over a potential deal for the 36-year-old, who was available as a free agent after leaving Greek side Olympiacos at the end of 2024, despite only joining the club in September. Willian was in attendance at Stamford Bridge on deadline day to watch his former side Chelsea beat West Ham United 2-1.
Willian possesses 11 years of Premier League experience having played for three clubs in England’s top flight. He joined Chelsea in 2013 from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala and went on to make 339 appearances for the club over seven seasons, winning the Premier League twice.
He then made the move across London to Arsenal but spent only one season at the Emirates before returning to Brazilian side Corinthians, where he previously came through the academy and made his senior debut.
After a single campaign at Corinthians, Willian returned to the English capital with Fulham, where he spent two seasons and played 67 games.
Fulham moved for Willian after last week’s news that Harry Wilson faces an injury lay-off of up to 10 weeks, which head coach Marco Silva confirmed in a news conference ahead of Saturday’s win over Newcastle United. Fellow winger and Arsenal loanee Reiss Nelson has also been out with a hamstring injury since early December.
