Yankees vs Dodgers World Series live updates: Game 2 how to watch, predictions, odds and more

Game 1 was an instant classic. Could an encore be in store for Game 2?

Welcome back to The Athletic’s live coverage of the 2024 World Series, a Goliath vs. Goliath clash that opened with Freddie Freeman smashing a walk-off, extra-innings grand slam Friday night. We can’t yet report the massive ratings the Fox broadcast must have done in Game 1, but I can say with certainty that our live blog did numbers. A cap tip to Cubs starter Jameson Taillon and two-time Gold Glover Tucker Barnhart for contributing their perspectives.

We’ve got two more big leaguers joining us for Game 2. Max Stassi is a 10-year big league catcher who was in the Chicago White Sox organization this season. Boston Red Sox outfielder Rob Refsnyder began his pro baseball career with the Yankees. He has a .795 OPS over three seasons in Boston and — spoiler! — has given Yankees Game 2 starter Carlos Rodón fits. We’ll ask Refsnyder and Stassi about that and much more throughout our live coverage.

Retired MLB umpires Dale Scott and Brian Gorman are back with us to offer their immediate reactions to controversial calls and questionable situations, like when a Dodgers fan reached over the left-field wall to catch Gleyber Torres’ fly ball in Game 1.

Strap in. First pitch is five hours away.
