Step 1

Start by gluing the googly eyes onto the face of the clothespin.

Step 2

Cut the black felt into the shape of a pirate hat. Then cut the white felt to look like a skull. You can draw eyes onto the skull with the black marker.

Gather your markers and start coloring your clothespins.

Step 3

Glue the skull onto the hat and then the hat onto the clothespin.

Step 4

Draw clothes onto the clothespin using the markers. We added cutoff pants, vests, mustaches, and shirts. I even cut an eyepatch from the black felt and glued it onto one of our dolls. My son thought that was awesome, and wanted an eyepatch of his own.

Don’t forget to add a felt hat and googly eyes.

Tips: Don’t want to use sharpie markers? Sharpies can be messy if you have younger kids. So, using acrylic paint pens may also be useful.

Variations Of This Clothespin Pirate Doll Craft

I also tried using paints. They worked great and can be a fun variation for older kids. Acrylic paints work best on these wood clothespins.
